Don’t give up hope on relationship, Alan tells Mark

By Alexandra Ryan

TV3 star Alan Hughes has said that Westlife star Mark Feehily and ex-fiance Kevin McDaid shouldn’t give up hope on their relationship.

The Ireland AM presenter admitted that he was “really sad” to see the pair split but says that anything can happen and his marriage to Karl Broderick is proof of that.

After seven years together Mark and Kevin split, just weeks after announcing that they were planning to marry in 2012, once Westlife finished their Farewell Tour. Mark made the dramatic announcement on Twitter over Christmas and has yet to reveal the reason behind their break up.

But pal Alan Hughes says the pair should keep their hopes up when it comes to reconciling.

The new Family Fortunes presenter said that his recent wedding to his partner of 18 years Karl Broderick is proof that things can work out, as the pair also went through a heartbreaking split back in 2008.

“I was really sad to see that they had split up. It was terrible. But I’m really sad for them and I hope they remain close friends because you never know what might happen.

“Look what happened to us, we split up and now we are married, so anything can happen,” he told the Herald.

Meanwhile, Alan (43) admitted he won’t be flying over to watch the live Celebrity Big Brother shows this year. Despite flying over to see the live evictions with his husband Karl and pal Pippa O’Connor last year, Alan says he won’t have time this time around, but it’s nothing to do with this year’s Irish contestant Georgia Salpa, who dropped out of Alan’s Christmas panto Sleeping Beauty at the last second.
